Tornado Tube

For our science experiment, we planned on doing a tornado tube.  BUT, our bottles did not fit the tornado tube adaptor.  So, we had to improvise.  I showed them how a vortex worked by making the water in my bottle swirl around.  Then Mrs. Wilbanks and I had a competition.  She turned her bottle upside down and poured.  I made mine have a vortex.  The Spunky Monkeys had to predict whose would empty first.
Reading, set...

GO!  Mrs. Wilbanks wins again! Mrs. Wilbanks won every time we tried it.

Humpty Dumpty

We have been reading Nursery Rhymes so Humpty Dumpty was our Funky Food this week!
Robert and Zuleydi's family provided the ingredients for the Funky Food Activity.
Thank you!

Math Groups

During math groups, we have four groups.  One group is with Mrs. Martin, one with Mrs. Wilbanks, one with Mrs. Roberts, and one on the computers.
Zuleydi and Maddie in Mrs. Martin's group.  We had to organize, count, and write the number.

Ruel in Mrs. Martin's group.

Wesley in Mrs. Martin's group.

Robert organizing his objects before he counts them.

The computer group on starfall.com.  We will start a new math computer program next week.

Madison is on one of our laptops.  We are lucky to have both kinds of computers.

Mrs. Wilbanks is having her group count and write on paper.

Gg is for Geyser

We had to yell g...g...g...g...

Listening to the air trying to escape.

Adding the Mentos.

Everyone is waiting and yelling g...g...g...

WOW! That is AWESOME!

Sweet Treat Tortillas

Here is the Sweet Treat Tortilla at the beginning.

Now, it is rolled up ready to eat.
Thank you to Jaxon's family for providing the ingredients for this Funky Food Activity.

Delicious Dragonflies

Ruel brought the ingredients for our Funky Food this week, Delicious Dragonflies.

Thank you to Ruel's family for sending the ingredients!

Zuleydi, Robert, Nicole, Kaitlin, and Maria show off their dragonflies.

The Happy Hounds had leftover colors, so they shared theirs so we could have even more colors to choose from. Thanks Happy Hounds!

Maddie is busy adding her chocolate to her wings so she could add them to the body and add the sprinkles.

Color Mixing

We are talking about different colors each week. For our science experiment we mixed colors.
But since Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Wilbanks like to eat, we used cool whip to explore with.

Nicole and Xander just finished combining yellow and red to see what color it makes...

ORANGE.

Maria is tasting orange too.
Maddie and Madison think orange tastes yummy.
Tinija is eating purple.

She combined red and blue to make it.

April enjoys color mixing too.
Jaxon has a huge bite of purple.
Ruel is mixing his blue and red together.
Kevin, Maria, Jaxon, and Zuleydi mixing red and blue together.
Robert, Nicole, Xander, and Kaitlin discovering purple.
Nathaniel mixing it all together.

What a delicious way to explore mixing colors.

Our First Science Experiment

On Fridays, we have a lot of academic fun.
One fun activity is the science experiment.
Our first one was the Incredible Can Crusher...that's me.

We are waiting for the little bit of water to heat up.
(This part is kinda boring)

Next we are listening for the water to bubble.

Then, I carefully turn the can upside down and place it in the water.

Then, we have a perfectly crushed can.

Pretty cool!

I was able to amaze the Spunky Monkeys by crushing a can without touching it. You can tell by the looks on their faces, they were AMAZED!
