Dr. Seuss Day

You can't really tell by the mug shot below but we had a blast today reading these Dr. Seuss books. Each had a fun activity to go along with it! We spent the entire day talking about, reading about, and acting like Dr. Seuss! His birthday was March 2nd, but we were out for snow so we celebrated today.

We love Dr. Seuss.

First we read The Cat in the Hat. We made edible hats.
Logan, Macy, and Reyne

Aubree, Zack, Mason, Martin, Taylor, and Cody

Abby, Jacob, Braison, and Nathaniel

Emilee, Kason, Colton, Caitlynn, and Aiden
We also read The Cat and the Hat Comes Back and made cool Cat in the Hat hats. Check them out in the picture below.

We then went over to the Happy Hounds room. Mrs. Hood read Bartholomew and the Oobleck.
Then the fun began. We got to make our own oobleck and play, play, play!
It was messy but too much fun.

This is the coolest stuff ever!

Mrs. Lisa is helping us play.

If you squeeze it in your hands, it is solid. Open your hands, and it is then a liquid. AWESOME!

Gross! Look at my hands!

Wow! This is cool!

Next we read Green Eggs and Ham. We all got to crack an egg. Mix it up and add food coloring.

Next we had to scramble our eggs and ham. YUM!

Aubree's not sure if she wants to eat them! But she liked them!

We ate them next. We will make a classbook about whether we liked the green eggs and ham, Sam-I-Am! So you will have to wait and see if we liked them or not!

Then Mrs. Martin read us Horton Hatches an Egg. When we were finished, we had to come up with an unusual creature like the one that hatched out in the story. Then we shared our creatures with our tables and put them on an egg to take home.

They sure are working hard on their creatures.

Macy is putting a lot of thought into hers.
All in all, we had a fun filled day of Dr. Seuss! And by the way, their hands won't stay green for long...it wears off pretty quick!
