Get ready, get set, GO!

And it is on!

Look at the Spunky Monkeys go!

What craziness!

RUN, RUN, RUN!

Andy and his mom

Run Aubree! Reyne's bag looks full back there.

Aiden's step grandmother and stepmom are there helping too!

Mason on the run.

Finally, all the eggs are gone, so now it is time for a picture.

Eggs in a Nest

I love peeps! So Easter is the best time to use them in a Funky Food Activity.

First, we had to get ready to hear about the ingredients, and begin to add them to the pot.

Next, we needed muscle to stir all the melting ingredients together. What better use than child labor!

Then, we had to put it all together!

Now, we can eat them!

Here is the chick and her nest of eggs!

Bunnies, Bunnies, Everywhere

We made the cutest bunnies on Friday. These guys are just waiting for eyes, nose, and teeth to be finished.

Here is Mrs. Hart and the girls working hard on their bunnies.

Jose, Martin, and Kason are busy adding stuffing!

Abby and Emilee are stuffing too.

Make sure you ask your Spunky Monkey for the bunny they made at school so you can display them at home.

March Madness and Eggs

Hmm? I wonder how many books will it take to squish that egg?
Maybe 2 or 5? Surely not more than 10!

First we had to add an extra pan on top to have a place to place the books on. The egg is sitting in playdough so it won't fall over during the experiment.

Then one by one we added books on top of the egg.

And more books...

Man, that is a lot of books. The egg looks like it has sunk into the playdough a little.

Well, it finally took a lot of books to squish the egg. We thought it was totally cool!

AWESOME!

St. Patrick's Day

Sam the Leprechaun came and visited our class the night before St. Patrick's Day. He left us a note and some GOLD!

We enjoyed reading the note and getting the gold.

During math, we did math activities all about St. Patrick's Day. Below we are making a graph with Lucky Charms cereal. First we had to sort marshmallow pieces by shape. Then add them to our graph.

Then we had to color in our graphs.

Mrs. Hart had a group too. She had another graph all about St. Patrick's Day. We had to look at the picture to collect our data. Then make a graph to go with the data collected.

On Friday, our funky food activity was all about green. We thank all the families who sent in items for our activities. There are too many and I am afraid I will forget someone...so THANK YOU ALL!

We had green grapes, green cucumbers, green pickles, green apples, green broccoli, green jello, green pudding, green lettuce, green punch, green pears, and green ranch dip. YUM!

Emilee, Kason, Colton, Caitlynn, and Aiden are enjoying all the GREEN!

Abby, Jacob (with his new haircut), Nathaniel, and Andy

Taylor, Macy and Aubree

Mason, Cody, Martin, and Aubree

Reyne and Jose and Logan's shirt

We also had a cool science experiment but the camera battery went dead. Ask your Monkey about the worm experiment.

Exploring our World Through the 5 Senses

This week our social science topic was Exploring our World with our 5 senses. We started out breaking up into 4 groups. Each group had to figure out the mystery object. The group below had to guess the object by using their sense of hearing. The other groups had to use smell, taste, and touch. Then they all had to write and draw what they thought was the mystery object. Once we figured it out, then we went through how we figured it out...our 5 senses!

No peeking!

On another day, we used our sense of smell to figure out different smells. Aiden is smelling coconut, but everyone had to predict what it was first. We had several other smells too.

Macy is using her sense of touch to guess what is in the bag. We had about 10 objects in a bags to figure out. Now I have a confession! I forgot to take pictures during the week, so we had to recreate the first 3 pictures on Friday. I asked Macy to guess what was in the bag, and she laughed, cause there was NOTHING! Tricky Mrs. Martin!

For our funky food activity, we used our 5 senses to explore popcorn. We saw, smelled, touched, heard, and of course, tasted popcorn! YUM!

We made a TLC art apple core and wrote all about apples using our 5 senses!

As always, we had unbelievable writing! Yes, that is 3 pages of writing.

It is incredible the writing we are getting from our guys and we are so proud of them!
